“Our undocumented immigrant neighbors and friends, and the 4.4 million US citizen children living with them, deserve to live with dignity, free of fear, insecurity, and anguish. We must allow them to thrive. Otherwise, Americans will continue to live with generations of traumatized children, who become traumatized adults. The time for change is now.
As people of faith, we urgently ask you to advocate and work towards:
Paths to legalization: Presidential pardon; expansion of Temporary Protected Status.
Abolishing of 287g, a policy that creates constant fear and stress in immigrant families.
Ending for-profit detention centers – there is flagrant abuse and unaccountability, not to mention the immorality of profiting from people’s vulnerability.”
